McCoy invited the concertgoer onstage, but when the unnamed man lunged at the singer, he went on the attack - and whacked the fan on the head with a microphone.
The outburst resulted in McCoy's arrest on a third degree assault charge immediately after the concert.
But Perry believes there is two sides to the story, and her lover wasn't wrong to lash out after being insulted.
She tells Usweekly.com, "There are definitely two sides to every story and you always have to take (that) into account".
